Cuba

In Cuba, the UNICEF Latin America and Caribbean Regional Office (LACRO) team works with local partners to implement the Adolescent Kit in adolescent circles throughout the country, especially to support young people who are vulnerable young people and/or living in challenging circumstances. In 2023 UNICEF rolled out the kit in specialized sessions with 196 adolescent circles, collaborating with multiple partners, including the Ministry of Education (MINED), educational psychologists from Cuba’s trade schools, psychologists and pedagogues from the Ministry of the Interior, and specialists from “Centro A+” Adolescent Spaces. Members of the Popular Educators Network of the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial Center (CMLK), who include teachers, local activists, urban planners, and psychologists, have also assisted with the implementation of the kit, as have leaders and members of national ecumenical associations and youth organizations. Facilitators with expertise in professional fields that include the arts, academic disciplines, IT, journalism and communication have been trained to implement activities and approaches from the Adolescent Kit in skill-building sessions with adolescents and youth from various backgrounds.
