Reaching and supporting diverse adolescents

The Adolescent Kit for Expression and Innovation (Adolescent Kit) supports adolescent girls and boys to improve their wellbeing, learn important life skills and connect with their communities through activities that focus on expression and innovation. This allows adolescents to experiment, express themselves and tap into talents they may not be aware they have. It gives them time to reflect, to create and to have fun while they solve problems and explore new ideas. In this way, adolescent girls and boys are given an opportunity to try out different kinds of activities, practise new skills, and to enjoy something new!

Using the arts, expression and innovation, the approaches and activities in the Adolescent Kit promote adolescents’ psychosocial wellbeing, skill-based learning, and active engagement in their communities and societies. The Adolescent Kit can be adapted for programmes for:

1. Arts and expression
2. Innovation and human-centred design
3. Life skills
4. Psychosocial wellbeing
5. Participation, and social and civic engagement
6. Peacebuilding

The Kit was also designed with a focus on equity and inclusion, especially with respect to gender, and ability and disability. Follow the links above to learn more about how the Adolescent Kit is designed to address global standards, best practices and outcomes for adolescents through an integrated, cross-sectoral approach that promotes equity for diverse adolescents. These “technical notes” also provide tips and strategies for adapting and aligning resources from the Adolescent Kit to your specific programmes and goals, and to the diverse needs and priorities of adolescents in your context.
