Mozambique

UNICEF Mozambique has developed an Adolescent Kit pilot programme as a response to the armed conflict in Northern Mozambique. The purpose of programme is to build resilience among vulnerable adolescents and youth, and to connect them with support and opportunities. The pilot programme addresses the immediate needs of adolescents in Northern Mozambique who are affected by the conflict in that region. When scaled up in other parts of the country it will be adapted to strengthen existing work with vulnerable groups of adolescents in those regions.

The programme will be applied across sectors and so was set up in a way that it could be integrated into existing programming. Space is created in the activity sequences to integrate activities that address additional learning areas like child rights, gender based violence (GBV), health, or other topics identified as useful learning areas for specific vulnerable groups. The team in Mozambique is working with partners to translate and contextualize pieces of the Kit resources and approaches to fit the needs of vulnerable adolescents in Mozambique to lay a strong foundation to scale up the programming in coming years.
