UNICEF Guinea-Bissau has integrated the Kit into the Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment Programme, which is part of the Education programme to bridge the gender gap in education and provide girls with the opportunity to reach their full potential. The programme focuses on life skills education to foster leadership and empowerment for adolescent girls through activities that include sports for development and the arts- and project-based activities in the Adolescent Kit.
Adolescence is a priority area for UNICEF-Guinea-Bissau’s Country Programme for 2020-2025, and UNICEF-Guinea-Bissau is building the capacity of its staff and implementing partners to use the Adolescent Kit through trainings, and by contextualization and localization of the Kit to reach more local partners and adolescents. This will include translation of the Kit into Portuguese and other adaptations to support adolescents’ sustained engagement in the Kit activities in the event of further disruptions due to COVID-19 or other crises.
